An Alila Ventana Big Sur Wedding | Monique + Spencer

Spencer and Monique decided to have their wedding on the central coast due to its significance in their relationship. The appeal of Big Sur drew them in, making it a special place for them. Wanting a departure from traditional weddings, they aimed for an intimate celebration with 23 guests to avoid the stress of elaborate planning. Despite being unfamiliar with intimate weddings, the couple is content with their decision, and it all came together seamlessly at their Alila Ventana Big Sur Wedding.

Spencer and Monique’s Journey to Marriage

Spencer and Monique met during college at CSU through mutual friends. One night, after being out late, Monique walked into her house and hit it off instantly with Spencer, a funny guy she met on her couch. Little did she know, he would eventually become her husband.

Despite both initially avoiding serious commitments, the attraction between them was too strong to resist. They officially started dating a year after their first meeting. After college, they moved to Spencer’s hometown, Encinitas, and lived with friends. They frequently traveled back to the central coast for couple getaways, making it an annual tradition.

The turning point in their journey came during a June 2022 trip to the central coast when Spencer proposed at one of their favorite wineries. Soon after, wedding planning began for Alila Ventana Big Sur, marking the beginning of the next chapter in their shared life.

A Day of Intimacy and Shared Moments at This Couple’s Alila Ventana Big Sur Wedding

On their wedding day, Spencer and Monique wrote their vows in the hotel room at Ventana. After spending the morning separately with their families, they met in the redwoods, feeling more at ease. The small size of their 23-person wedding became apparent during the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of this close-knit group in their love story. With a smaller guest list, they could enjoy the day without the stress of entertaining a large crowd and include inside jokes in their vows that everyone understood.

“Evynn made us feel so comfortable. Our photos turned out amazing and we find new favorites every time we look through them. She was knowledgeable about the area and was able to help us reach our quick timelines! She’s amazing to work with and produces even better work!”
