Creative Maternity Shoot at Point Reyes

Maternity Photography, when shot with no limitations, has become a favorite lifestyle session to photograph. When my good friend Lynn, a talented photographer herself, asked if I could take some photos of her pregnancy, I knew this would be a creative maternity shoot. Lynn and I originally met through a mutual friend. We were both assigned as the two photographers to capture our friend’s wedding. Lynn lives near Point Reyes, which carries a familiar feel to Big Sur. Our love of unique living situations bonded us quickly.

Lynn’s journey to motherhood was no easy feat, so capturing this moment in time felt surreal. An honor and privilege, as her friend, to document her her growing family. We shot at her home in the Bay Area and the marshland surrounding Point Reyes.

Opting for a creative maternity shoot isn’t just about documenting pregnancy; it’s about capturing a raw and genuine moment. I have come to realize that these motherhood and maternity sessions create a space where I can bring my background in fine art photography to life. These sessions have now become a favorite subject matter to photograph. When two photographers, who love being weird while recording life on film, get together the magic happens.
