An Intimate San Francisco City Hall Elopement
City Hall elopements are rising as couples seek alternatives to traditional weddings. Catie and Nick knew a San Francisco City Hall elopement was their choice because of the unique architecture. The current building was constructed in two years and is made of steel, granite, and four floors of white marble interiors. Replacing the one destroyed in the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906, it stands out with its lustrous detailing, a grand staircase, and an impressive dome reaching 307 feet. For reference, that is 42 feet taller than the nation’s capital. If you’re considering an elopement in a similar place, stick around for more insights.
From Robots to Romance
Catie and Nick met in a college class on Digital Design for Circuits at Georgia Tech. After working together on a driving robot project that landed them in last place, they shifted their focus to getting to know each other.
In the early stages of their relationship, they enjoyed hiking and exploring various outdoor settings, including oceans and lakes. The Big Sur location for their engagement shoot held significance due to these shared experiences.
Living nearby, Catie liked the City Hall architecture and had always wanted to get married there, even before getting engaged. Both preferring to avoid being the center of attention, they easily agreed on the decision to elope.
Catie and Nick’s Private San Francisco City Hall Elopement
On a beautiful Spring day in San Francisco, despite the necessary precaution of wearing masks due to a Covid spike, Catie and Nick’s wedding was characterized by simplicity, excitement, and love. They exchanged personal vows beneath a flowering cherry tree before proceeding to City Hall, notable for its impressive architecture and grand staircase. The day unfolded seamlessly, marked by genuine affection. I am grateful to have been chosen by them through Instagram to document their special day.
“I am very thankful to have discovered Evynn. First and foremost, she’s an elite photographer. I found her work on Instagram, and it matched the mood of the photography that I knew my wife would enjoy. We reached out, and she was very personable and flexible in arranging a shoot date. During the shoot, she helped my wife and I lighten up and lose a little tension to take some great shots. We’ve done two shoots with Evynn, our Big Sur engagement session, and our San Francisco city hall elopement. I smile every time I look at our pictures.”
